Film description

An Egyptian caterer kills various women in suburban Miami to use their body parts to revive a dormant Egyptian goddess while an inept police detective tries to track him down. With a special Egyptian menu, he tries trick an inquisitive suburban lady.

Part of our foodfilm program it is listed high on the eternal list of cult films. Back in the early sixties, there was nothing like it, and audiences were shocked by the extreme sickness and gore of the film. Audiences nowadays might raise an eyebrow at the portrayal of the sinister Egyptian shop owner and his overacting.

Director Herschell Gordon Lewis rose to fame as the inventor of what you could refer to as gore cinema.
