STRAIGHT TO VIDEO
Straight to Video presents the ultimate video night every month at Amsterdam's LAB111 cinema. Insane cult films on original VHS, played from an analog video recorder, with glitches, trailers, blood, and beer! Beware, their presentation will be in Dutch, but the film in original language. As part of our festival’s theme 'Now We're Cooking!', Straight to Video brings their tape of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II” (1986), the notorious sequel to the 1974 horror classic. The Sawyer family (get it?) wins chili cook-offs with their secret recipe, unbeknownst to the judges that it includes human flesh. Obsessed Sheriff, played by the ever-intense Dennis Hopper, is on their trail. In an abandoned amusement park, the ultimate showdown unfolds between the lawman and Leatherface's chainsaw-loving cannibal family. Tobe Hooper returned to the director's chair more than a decade after “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (1974), completely changing the film's tone. The tension and subtlety of the original were replaced with pitch-black satire, outrageous splatter, and hysterical humour. Although the radical shift was divisive at first, with time, Hooper's vision gained recognition, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 emerged as a solid cult classic, hailed as one of the wildest and weirdest horror sequels of all time!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) [VHS]

Tobe Hooper, USA, 101 min, English, Dutch subs, horror.

Straight To Video presents the weirdest horror sequel on good ol' VHS-cassette: Tobe Hooper's ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2’. Chainsaw-wielding maniac Leatherface is up to his cannibalistic ways once again, along with the rest of his twisted clan, including the equally disturbed Chop-Top. This time, the masked killer has set his sights on pretty disc jockey Vanita “Stretch” Brock, who teams up with Texas lawman Lefty Enright to battle the psychopath and his family deep within their lair, a macabre abandoned amusement park.
