Vigasio winner BUT-Award 2011

Saturdaynight the BUT-Award Ceremony took place in the Concertzaal at the Nieuwe Veste.


Winner Best short BUT-film: Born Again by Henrik Bjerregaard Clausen


Winner Best Feature: Vigasio by Sebastiano Montresor


Fred Vogel from Toetag recieved the Groundbreaker-Award. A new award for filmmakers who's work has an important influence on undergroundfilm. For Vogel a dream came true when he finally recieved a BUT-shirt in his size. Although...to speak with his words:"I will fit in this shirt after I eat all of you".


There was a special-jury-mention for the documentary Noise and Resistance by Julia Ostertag and Francesca Araiza Andrade.

On-stage Discussion: Underground is Dead?

On Friday afternoon there will be an on stage discussion with underground directors from past and present, from the US and from Europe, amongst which the renowned German director Marian Dora. But also Julia Ostertag, main guest Nick Zedd, Fred Vogel and Wilhelm Hein. The on-stage discussion will be led by 'Mister horror' Jan Doense, also known from the Nacht van de Wansmaak (night of bad taste).

Black Friday

Friday, September 9th, will be Black Friday. The film ‘Until the light takes us’ about the eighties’ Norwegian Black Metal scene has a viewing at 18.00h in Theatre 2 of the Nieuwe Veste. Later in the evening three Satanic/Pagan bands will launch their gloom across the Boulevard with a speed of 666 miles an hour.

Short Films (Dutch)

Many Dutch short film makers have submitted a film, like for example Thijs van Gasteren with his film 'Roadkill'. During the previous edition of the festival Van Gasteren made: “Ear-man and the Revenge of the Zombie Chick Squad”. Where he realeased a group of zombie chicks onto the streets of Breda.
